Abstract
This book is part research part a handbook for the use of ethnographic action research, a method which involves a degree of immersion within a community and continuous engagement with its members. The case studies which illustrate the method include work on highly innovative ICT projects, such as Kotmale Community Radio in Sri Lanka which, in the mid 1990s was one of the pioneers of linking the internet to more traditional forms of communication.
